I love this. It's heartwrenching and wonderful without feeling manipulative.

I want to hug him.

So have this happy icon.

PS: Did Jack ever call Steven "Soldier" in the episode? Because if not, that's PERFECTLY him.

Eeee thank you! I'm so glad you like it.

Jack very often could do with a big old hug!

And he did! Both in Day One and Day Five. I really like it, so I definitely wanted to get that in there.

Very well done, I am overjoyed at seeing anything having to do with Jack and his grandson from you! I love how he didn't just take what he said at face value and picking up on the other watch.

Even though he does end up pressing a button in the end, cause what kid wouldn't, I love how he listened to Jack. How almost reverent he was with the device.

And all that with also keeping true to Alice and everything else that was going on in the story around Jack and Steven. Again, very well done.

Oh, Harknesses :(

I really like the dialogue here. It's a mix of Alice knowing Jack well enough that she doesn't need him to finish his sentences, and growing uncomfortable enough in their relationship that she doesn't want to let him try. I love that this doesn't read as malicious on anyone's part -- just very complicated.

And I love Steven and Jack's relationship here. We don't see much of Steven in COE, but this really builds on the small glimpses of him (and them all together) that we see.

What have I told you about writing amazing Jack stories?

This story is sooooo poignant because we know what's coming after. And Jack with Alice, and the sadness he feels with Steven and this:

Because he looks up to you. He loves you, though you've done nothing to earn it.

Oh Jack.

And oh you for making me say "oh Jack".
