On the definition of evil: I've had a look in the comm but I couldn't see any 'guidelines' for what they class as evil - was there any, or did you use your own interpretation? I'm really curious because in this fic, although thoroughly enjoyable, your version of Sam seems... well, very tame! Don't get me wrong, I'm not criticising, I'm genuinely interested in people's various ideas on the concept. :)
Edit - I really don't mean to sound like a bitch BTW. I hope you understand what I'm getting at!

For this fic I definitely wanted a different take on evil!Sam, so I didn't want him to be the King of Hell, or one of Crowley's minions, doing the torture thing as that is the same old same old. Sometimes you have to take a risk and write what's not expected and that's what I did here.
So, I thought about the nature of evil...even discussed it here http://terror-scifi.livejournal.com/111466.html ...and approached soulless Sam as being evil when viewed from a normal perspective. I believe soulless Sam is a psychopath so, for him, killing is the logical choice when faced with the circumstances he finds himself in. So the act of killing innocents without remorse, to me, is inherently evil.
This paragraph by black_sluggard summed it up for me in our discussion.
In the real world: Callousness, lack of empathy, selfishness and indifference. Evil, for me, is pursuing your goals without any thoughts to how others are made to suffer ( ... )
