Weird but interesting

Someone on niconico have taken the two Scarlet Pimpernel DVDs and made some joined clips that play both versions of the songs simultaneous. Kind of hard to listen to but it makes for some interesting comparisons.

It was extremely interesting to hear the comparisons. I was biased at first towards Touko, but Kiriyan is a very strong singer and I actually like her deviations from Touko's choices. Asuka and Marimo sounded nearly the same to me, which isn't necessarily a good thing, nor bad.

The last one though made me feel horrible for Masaki, though.

I can understand the lure of letting Masaki sing in such a low register but she doesn't seem to have enough power in that register to be able to belt out those tunes. A bit sad since she really is a good singer.

it was really heard to listen to these, biut also ineresting, especially, when the tempi were different enough, to hear both singers (like in "Where is the girl")

When I listened to Touko/Kiriyan, I was a little unsure, what to think:
Touko is breathing very hearable, while she sings and usually one would say, you don't hear the breathing of a good singer, as Kiriyan shows us perfectly, but at the same time, I think Kiriyan lacks that certain drama Touko has through that particular breathing.....hmmmmm.....

My general impression from the two shows is that the Hoshigumi version is a bit grander, more theatrical, while the Tsukigumi version is a bit more toned down, a bit more realistic. Since the story and the characters really isn't that deep I prefer the Hoshigumi version despite the fact that I more often tend to prefer a more realistic acting style.
