Had a project presentation yesterday in which I received yet, the most insulting remark ever. I've always prepared myself to receive any forms of remarks thrown at me, let it be that my project is rubbish, or there's no benefit to it, or a 10 year old can do it, etc, but I have never. never been prepared to be insulted like a person who's ( Read more... )

I think that yes, it was insulting, although I'm not quite sure where I see sexist from.

And if you really feel offended, I suggest talking to your supervisor's higher ups.

I'd love to do that. But I'm gonna have to wait for my project presentation to be over. Can't afford to fail this T_T

That totally sucks. Who's your SV again? Maybe they're having an off day or something?

Which part of your FYP was this? I had problems with the implementation up til the pre EDX (before the external examiners came in) but I guess I was fortunate to have understanding SVs? They didn't insult me or anything. But then again, my final grade wasn't that good either so...lolz.

I think ranting is good for you. If you bottle everything up, one day it'll explode. I personally had a "Dear Diary" until secondary school. I don't write in it everyday with "OMG, the cute guy sorta looked my way!!11!!" stuff, just things that I needed to get off my chest but didn't wanna tell anyone. Even now my LJ has rants, although they're more on the fangirling-joy-that-cannot-be-contained type of stuff.

It's Yew. You were right about him being extremely helpful and all, but apparently that only applies to his favourite students.

Not only did he insulted, he didn't help with my project at all eventhough he said he'll help me since he's a flash expert (I'm doing a project based on flash). Also, that title was HIS idea in the first place, but since he brought his clique (aka Prof Jubair and Dr Scneider), he was too ashamed to back me up I guess.knowing that it was his idea. FYI Dr. Schneider was literally laughing at my work, so he just had to follow suit. He never admitted or even mentioned ONCE it was his idea. What an ass.

Ughm, I'm sorry to hear that. Although if its in FYP2 phase and he still has complaints, its his own damn fault as he didn't speak up during FYP1 about changing the idea or whatever, if its so laughable. It's not like you're a student who doesn't meet up with him at all and have problems that he didn't manage to catch during FYP1.

My own SV was a little like this, although on a smaller scale. He made me re-write whole blocks of my final report right before the final submission when most of those blocks were static since I first wrote it in FYP1 and he never said a word about it.

It's like that I guess. Everyone has their own horror story of their FYP. Just do the best you can and bear it coz after this sem? You won't ever have to do it again once you pass. Take cheer in that if nothing else. ^__^
