Moving Drabble for open_on_sunday

Ever since the show ended, I've been feeling sympathy for Buffy much more than I ever used to. It's very odd.

Anyway, the drabble, which I couldn't think of a name for:

Warnings: None.

Oh wow, I did not expect that ending - that punch to the gut. She and Xander really do have a lot in common in that regard despite the class differences, don't they? Another area left unexplored on the show (and that's what fanfic is about, isn't it?)

Thanks! And yeah, they certainly do - though practically everyone in Buffy seems to have dysfunctional parents for some reason.

Watching the show as a newbie is kind of interesting, by myself, seeing all this stuff such as "gee, everyone has unhappy families are parents who abandon, abuse or neglect them" - and then discovering that 1) there's this HUGE fandom, and everything has been analyzed a million ways to Sunday already, and 2) they actually mention JW's unhappy families/bad parents trope on TV Tropes. (And what is up with that, seriously?)

BTW - I'm very happy that your feelings have changed about Buffy (or at least they had of your 2009 comment upthread, not sure where you stand now?) I certainly would never have thought you didn't like her from this fic, which is so compassionate, and beautifully observed.
