Thanks! It's essentially Delia Smith gingerbread with all the spices switched (although she talks about orange zest and a tablespoon of water, while I always cheat with orange juice, hence the lime juice), so it does what it's meant to at least!

Very impressive. I had a feeling that they might work as ginger is so fundamental to Asian cooking.

That was my hope as well. The flavours definitely work, though I have a feeling I may need more of everything (I was too wary of making something foul).

Yeah, wasabi is a bit strong as well.

Exactly. Though I'm not sure about the stuff I've got - it was the only powder they had, but the paste next to it said it was 4%, and that's presumably including all the water in the volume as well, so I'm not sure I've got the best thing for this. I mean, it's not like you'd ever eat a teaspoon of ginger on its own either...

Yay! Thanks for the recipe!

Now you need to do the cupcakes!

No probs!

And ha! That would involve me finding a red velvet cake recipe to start with (I'd never even heard of it until a few years ago). I'm actually more tempted by the peach and habanero crumble, which was inspired by my misremembering a passion fruit and habanero liqueur I tried once (it has not been edited because I think it could still work), but I've yet to decide how you could get the habanero in without killing people. I'm thinking some sort of poaching would have to happen, but there are so many choices of booze...

That does sound interesting, I'm very fond of gingerbread.

The main gingerbready foundation is definitely still there - the taste just changes direction halfway through the ginger. ;)

Those sound fascinating - if you are coming to Coventry in May you really should bring some...

Although bringing you is much more important, I do hope you can come!

I should be able to come! I need to sort things out - I haven't quite internalised that it's earlier this year, I think...

I think the recipe might be increased in heat, however, just because today they've neutralised to quite normal gingerbread, and that's not good enough!
