Another vid(?!) - for Final Fantasy VIII

I haven't been writing very much recently (mostly because of being busy, but also, I fear, because I'm a little burnt out on the written word for the moment - it'll recover in time, I'm sure!), but I've had a lot of fun putting together another fanvid - for FFVIII!! Specifically about Rinoa.

The Fortress at Sea Level. )

final fantasy, vidding, ffviii

I didn't know you made vids! And this is SO GOOD. I have never played FFVIII, but I watched my brother play it around the time it came out, so I'm familiar with the characters (my brother has a Rinoa action figure). Wonderful imagery (I liked the use of hands, and the repeated zoom in to Rinoa) and excellent timing. Good choice of music, too. I like!

Did you use footage from cut scenes? How did you get that off the disc? (she asks, out of curiosity)

eta - lol, I totally missed your Hamlet vid. Just watched that now, and enjoyed!

THANK YOU! And, heh, I'm not sure I really do make vids - I only started very recently with the Hamlet vid (hooray for enjoyment! :D), and this was a sort of riding-on-the-creative-wave reaction to that. Who knows if I'll be inspired for another? (I have no idea, for example, how I would go about doing a Buffy vid - I don't think about Buffy very visually, and, as is possibly obvious, I have a certain aversion to vids that have proper lyrics...). FFVIII is the BEST - you should totally play it if you can, even though it's old. And I love the track as well (I edited it pretty heavily though - you can hear the whole thing here). :)

I think there's a way of ripping the cut scenes off the disc, but thankfully several people on the internet have done that already - I did a bit of searching round FF media sites and managed to find the files I wanted (in .avi) from bluelaguna.net. This is the good thing about the game being over ten years old...
