This is so bittersweet, but in reality, I also think this is one of the problem outcomes of their friendship that I can see. As much as I love Shindou/Touya (and I do love it) it's not like they live in a society that would be terribly accepting of it. This instead--doing their duty by marrying and having kids and that kind of longing where no one is really happy seems more real, as painful as it is to read.

*nods* You got my intended point - it's another one of those "views from the real world" I seem to be indulging in lately.

I don't know why I love realism so much. Is a hidden longing to have others acknowledge our fic, do you think? "This isn't raving fangirl lunacy. READ IT. It's as valied as original fiction." Or something?

How beautifully bittersweet. I could very easily see this happening to the both of them too, which makes it even more heartbreaking.

*nods* I think there's something very tragic in a romance that never was.

I already talked to you about this on IM, but I'll say it again -- this is sad because it's *true* -- it's the far more likely outcome of their relationship than the one most fans would want for them. The last line is particularly heartbreaking.

Thank you - I figured you'd get it more than some other people - it's one of those fics intended toward an adult audience, I think.
