Yeah, Akari is wonderful. She's a great friend to Hikaru, but I like her with Mitani better. Although it's really nice to see Akari in this fic. She adds more mystery to who Shindou really is.
She unravels part of his background as well. We see he spent the last few years as a normal student, playing sports. It's his sudden change which is one of the keys.
Mitani does not exist in this universe - he's probably been killed for cheating. ^_~
::blinks:: A new chapter? Damn. I'm never going to finish my homework, am I?
Interesting and strange how Akira isn't the one who Hikaru's chasing this time--I wonder how he'll react to being so completely dismissed by someone he considers a rival? (Oh, shank!) And I think I'm starting to like Amano more and more, just because his viewpoint as an outsider in the pro world is so different from the ones we usually see. I am a little confused, though. I thought that Sai's summer playing NetGo was what taught him how to update his style to modern rules? Why is Hikaru's playing style still antique?
And now I feel guilty saying something like "waiting breathlessly for the next part!", even though I am, because it seems really, really greedy. ^^;;; Great chapter.
What a nice thing to come home from work too! I love how brash Hikaru is here, and how close the game ended up being--it makes perfect sense that the game ended the way that it did, because most of the series, Shindou is always so close to defeating Akira yet never quite making it.
I love how you use Amano in this story too, it works quite well!
this is going to sound so fangirlish...but I am just, just so thankful you posted another part so quickly! am now quietly savouring the moment before reading...
Also, read your post on your last year's accomplishments...damn! 31 fics! If only I was so proliferate...

Akari had backed off a bit, her face pale. "Who, Hikaru?"
And I love this line the most.

No, Akira is not Hikaru's target. This is a different world, after all.
Glad you enjoyed.

^_~ I'm not talking about the game right now. I'll probably cover it more in depth later.
Amano is becoming my alter ego. It's sad.

I did the accomplishments so I could SAY I've actually completed stuff. People tend to doubt me...
