This is intriguing. Very intriguing. Silly Europeans, trying to subjugate native peoples.

You have to wonder what they would have done if they hadn't had the best weapons...

Thanks for this very fascinating historical rewrite! I've missed reading your fics. Amidst the onslaught of superhero movies for the past few years, it's nice to read alternative universes such as yours.

I'm trying to get back in the swing of things, so I'm doing a fic a day for September.

Hero movies are my crack. I love archetypes, and there's no one I love more than Superman.

Oooooh. Now that is an Elseworlds idea I would love to see elaborated upon, but this snippet conveys all the important details quite well as it stands.

This is an Elseworlds I don't think anyone could write well. If we tried to make it detailed, it'd come across as inauthentic. Thus the joys of short stories.

Now that is an intriguing idea. Would love to see it in comic form.

Man, Superman is white. All Kryptonians are white. I didn't even think about it before. In a way, it's fitting that the Americanist of American superheroes (outside of Captain America) is the one who's going to destroy the hornet's nest.

Do you think it could be done in comic form? I keep getting flashbacks to the 50s comics and thinking how very bad (as in horrible and offensive) this could be.

Superman is a product of his environment. Being an American means different things in different eras - that's what struck me. I was thinking about how they keep ret-conning his crash landing so he's "modern," but what if we went the other way?

So intriguing, I can just imagine the arrogance that would cause them to cross superman in this setting over and over and over again...

I've been reading too much history, because I was thinking the same. It's all about divine right...
