Oooh, poor Youko. What a unique way of interpreting Taiki and kirin in general. I've been looking for more 12 Kingdoms fics and this was a nice appetizer.

And while I didn't like the way Taiki seemed to treat Youko, since he'd been plenty friendly when he went to visit Sou by himself, I can see why he'd respond the way he did. I guess Taiki needs even more time. Youko's response though, is purely Youko: thoughtful and classy. This only made me like her more.

Wow; the difficulty Youko encounters here with Taiki makes sense, though I might not have thought of it myself.

Hi! Just wanted to show my appreciation for capturing Taiki and Youko's personalities spot-on, and Taiki's rejection was very profound, and I liked the interpretation, because I can really see it being that way.
"Now that she was looking, she could see echoes of Keiki's loyalty in Taiki's words."
Especially liked the tidbit near the end when she compared Taiki's loyalty to Keiki because it /would/ be an encounter like this that, in the end, it comes back to her adjusting to the rules of the 12K world. Very lovely piece, so thanks! :D
