Mikoto is probably going to be a bigger threat to Hokage!Itachi than anyone else. Poor guy just can't catch a break.

I think he's caught several breaks (namely Shisui). But I wanted to throw him into the deep water with his family, and I think in some ways it's harder to fight against a mother than a father.

I mean, it's an awesome strategy, but...Itachi using himself against Sasuke in canon absolutely breaks my heart, because they're so clearly the absolute #1 most important anything in each others' lives, and twisting that is horrible.

Your Mikoto is an excellent character, and very different from other portrayals of her that I have read. I also like the idea (mentioned in the author's notes) of a Tsunade vs. Mikoto theme/idea.

I think this is going back to the "shinobi as weapon" school of thought. Sasuke is her weapon. As for what happens between Itachi and Sasuke in this verse... sore wa himitsu da.

Very glad you liked the spin on her - I'm trying to make this universe unique. Since Tsunade is going to play a major role in a bit, I thought having Mikoto as her rival would be fun.

Sasuke is by far my favorite character, so I'm definitely looking forward to his appearances.

I have to say though, as soon as I realized that some form of Tsunade vs. Mikoto vs. Itachi showdown was going to occur, my first thought was to run for the hills (and my second was to grab Sasuke on the way.)

*laughs* Mikoto isn't the type to throwdown - she'd just poison Tsunade. Who would heal it, then go hunting, only to find Jiraiya has been convinced that Mikoto needs a strong man to protect her....
