I am awesome because I have a lot of support from people I borrow shamelessly from. ^_^ Most of Shisui's awesome came from ronsard. I do think a couple of the upcoming fics will be amusing (just wait, just wait).

I'm thinking this is a series of oneshots? It's building the whole world from different perspectives and the oneshots allow me to go back and fill in if something clever occurs.

Another great look at this AU. That Shishui is alive is one of the more interesting benefits. I always felt sad that Itachi killed his best friend and wondered what he'd be like. You also brought in Itachi's Sasuke-obession too!

The best part though was Shishui's line about the fact that the Hokage, and therefore Itachi, will always have a hand in any death, because it is not something that gets looked at often but is true.

Shisui is an interesting character to play with, since we don't know much about him but his death caused a lot of repercussions (Itachi, Danzou....). And yes, Shisui knows about Itachi's brother complex.

Heavy is the head that wears the crown (or the Hat). It's not just about power, but taking a lot of responsibility. The buck stops at the Hokage.

Caught up with this series (of fic) and it's still amazing. ;_; I haven't had the time to read more of Naruto due to time constraint, but I'm sure I'll read it now unless I'm simply better off reading your fic since, sometimes, fanon is better than canon.

Thanks! Naruto is one of those series that I sometimes like for fanon more - I find it's best to wait and then go on a tear through the manga since at points it drags (though Kishimoto has gotten better about pacing).

I love that Shisui's trying to show Itachi how they can still be all bff, and being Hokage changes nothing. I love Itachi being worried about Sasuke. ;_____;

Shisui is insane, but he's loyal to Itachi. And yes, we're starting to see some of Itachi's brother complex (because that's what Itachi comes down to in the end).

And yes, I blame ronsard for a lot. ^_~

Wah, Itachi. *sniffles* Because yes, he would take all that responsibility on himself, and he would obsess over Sasuke, and I don't care how brilliant and talented he is, that's way too heavy a burden to drop on a teenager.

I like how Shisui is at one and the same time casual, cheerful, and carefree, but also shrewd, observant, and very realistic and matter-of-fact about the realities of ninja life. It's an interesting balance.

Also, that's an interesting point, that for a ninja to show his or her back to someone is a sign of great trust. It occurs to me that it could also be a sign of complete contempt -- it says either "I trust you not to hurt me," or "I am so far beyond your reach that even if I give you a perfect opening, you can't touch me." I like that Shisui can tell which message Itachi is giving him by turning his back and looking out the window. (I wonder if Itachi is also hiding his expression, knowing that Shisui can read him too well.)

Thing is, Gaara becomes Kazekage at a year younger than this version of Itachi. A lot of what I'm writing for this is based off of how I see Gaarakage, since I think he and Itachikage would have a lot in common.

Shisui is batshit insane. I don't know if that comes across from his POV, but he is insane. But considering all shinobi are nuts in their own way, I suppose it doesn't matter.

I think I've seen it done both ways in fic, but I think Itachi really doesn't have the kind of ego that lends itself to turning his back on someone. Itachi isn't an idiot (although I could possibly see him doing it to Sasuke to incite him, I don't think he'd really let his guard down).

Shisui is insane? I didn't get that feeling from this piece. Other than the usual level of insanity present in all shinobi, he didn't seem especially nutty. Although that may be because this is in his POV, and he may not consider himself to be insane.

I'm really fascinated that you want to portray him that way, and wouldn't mind seeing where you'd go with it if you explored it further. *cough*writemoreShisui*cough*
