Aishuu Offers:
Dross - Part One of Two
mbsilvana@yahoo.com
Disclaimer: Konomi-sensei, manga-ka!
Notes: Inspired by the comments I received on “Pyrite” but not set in the same universe. Also written as a counterpoint for “Last Dance.” Pairing... well, O/K and probably some T/F. Het implied as well for some characters. Feedback is a good thing.

Not all those that wander are lost. )

mystic eyes, oishi/kikumaru, tenipuri, dross, tezuka/fuji

Wow...I feel depressed now. If that's what my high school reunion is going to be like...>_< I could so easily become Oishi, myself. (Not that I don't like the fic. Quite the opposite, in fact, since it's rare to find a fic that, well, gnaws at you like this.)

...Tari

I think this has a lot of me in it. I don't miss anyone, really, but I regret what SHOULD have been.

Yes. And I think that's why this hurts some of my older readers, because they recognize it as well.

*HUGS* YATTA! You got it! ^_^ I love it when someone sees things they way I intended them to.

Yes, that's one of the points... sometimes you can send the crew on an angst fest without making them WALLOW. I think why this was so painful was because this was the natural progression of LIFE to me... we grow apart.

[you wouldn't know me. I'm just an online fic-stalker, determined for the first time to catch up with the stories you've written]

A lot of people have tackled "after they graduate" stories; I really appreciate that you took this a step beyond that. The details included in this story (Kawamura's beard, Inui's job, Oishi forgetting Kikumaru's birthday) give it a very lifelike feel; Oishi's fading relations with the team, in particular, are so easy to identify with, and remind me exactly of the feeling I get when I remember something I wanted to do but never really got around to (that's not the best way to describe it, but I don't want this sentence to run on any longer than it has already).

I'm looking forward to the second part, since Tezuka and Kikumaru are--were?--such crucial figures in Oishi's life. I'd love to see how they all interact.

Ficstalk away! I love ficstalkers who comment. ^_^

I think that's exactly it. The feeling of identity comes to the piece simply because it's something we all did - when we graduate, we lose some of the closeness we had with people we never thought we'd be parted from (I went to a K-12 school, so that is especially true in my case).

Details are what make a fic work. You have to have things underlying a fic that may not be obvious, but show changes gradually.

And if I had a dime for everytime I forgot to send those birthday cards...

wow. I'm only recently out of high school, so I'm still in touch with my close friends, but the fact that bonds like that can be broken is scary.

can't wait to find out what happens next~

They're only broken if you let them be. Some people hold onto them more tightly - which may or may not be a good thing. Sometimes it seems that you can't move forward without letting go...

It's a dual-edged sword.

Another Tezufuji fic! *sqeeks in background* ^_^

I almost never review on FF.net but I've read every last thing that you have written! (Yes I know, I scare myself with my fanfic reading obsession too.) I really appreciate your style and characterization in various fandoms such as PoT and HnG. I first found your stories over a FB Momo fic that you never finished, is it ever going to be done?

Just wanted you to know that I enjoy your Tezufuji very much! ^_^

Yes, that fic is about 1,000 words from being completed. I just haven't been in the right mood for it.

This one isn't hugely TezuFuji - there's some hints, but the pairings are secondary, I think. Well... we'll see. I haven't written the second part though it's mapped out.

I'm glad you like that. I like the pairing myself.
