Got it in one - it's stuffed full of references to different political vibes. That said, I think it's a very entertaining episode, as long as you're open to it. One of the last Powerpuff projects Craig was involved with before he started Foster's, I hear.
I'll need to watch it a couple more times to see if I get everything. It definitely had a very serious undertone, running under the gnome and the roses and such.
I think part of it was the PPGs always secretly want to be human...my main beef with it was that they seemed to imply Him could be beaten as easily as that..if it was that easy the PPG would have been able to do it, IMHO...
It's always been a toyed-around-with headcanon of mine that in her secret heart of hearts Bubbles never wanted to do the hero thing full-time; Buttercup likes punching and Blossom likes justice but Bubbles always seemed more content with giving hugs and spreading joy and laughter. And it could be argued that she's the most self-conscious out of the three because she cares most about what other people think of her, so it actually rather pleasantly surprised me when Bubbles starting arguing for being "just normal little girls". What was a little less than pleasant was having Buttercup and Blossom go along with it. XD
( ... )
Maybe they just all get worn out about it? I remember being six, I really didn't like playing one game for a long time. It's true thy don't always act like six ....
The thing is though the gnome isn't shown attacking him one and one in a battle way, just..unmaking him and all the other villains. That's what I have issue with. It's not so much I think Him is Mr. muscle Mcmuscles normally, but on the level of pure magic and evil I don't think he would let a god figure not from earth just step on his boots like that. At least not without getting so angry that something was shown to happen and...darn it, now I want to work on Inherit The Wind again :P
They've got too much responsibility for six-year-olds. In that regard they are mature for their age, very mature indeed.
If the gnome had absorbed the power of the PPG and combined it with his own special brand of voodoo then it's possible no Earth demon/devil/god of darkness could stand against him; the only way he was unmade was because the PPG made him question his entire philosophy and he vaporized when he realized his logic was flawed. And it was a rock opera that wasn't supposed to focus on the villains anyway, but now that you mention it, I DO want to see what would happen if the villains all got their buns handed to them by an audacious out-of-towner and how they'd reset the balance. Him and Mojo especially. XD
