Provisos to anybody reading this: this is eight thousand seven hundred and seventy two words of out-in-left field sequel to a twenty thousand word crackfic that . . . hasn't been written and was supposed to be a retelling of Lieutenant Hornblower. But um. Set in the context of an American university's football program. Shut up. I recognize that

*sings songs about Horatio coming back as a low-level tenure-track faculty member while Bush is a senior and about crippling injuries that end Bush's career in football before draft day*

Ya know, no matter what or where or when, HH will always be that lonely little boy in the pig trough.
Except when he has snatches of happiness with Bush. omg.

Because. I mean. XD Let's make one of the most famous sailing ships in the history of England a blonde ex-cheerleader with a rich daddy! :D :D :D

Dude, the fact that you are the crack queen of Hornblower fandom is the best. fucking. thing. ever.

And just to prove the crack: I'm listening to a song titled "Devil Lady" and thinking about Barbara.

. . . that is quite possibly the greatest idea ever. It's like Brokeback Royal Navy. XD
And I'm really, really glad that you liked this. It was a delirious pleasure to write, though ahahah. After you left me this comment (P(#&PO#I WHAT HOLY FUCK PEOPLE ARE READING THIS), I had to go through and change about twelve million things and clean up the ending. And nothing really changes the fact that all the good ideas in here are from iansmomesq -- she's the one who suggested making Bush's family dairy farmers out on the plains, for example, and is the one who was telling me about how you feed calves with a bottle. The shower humping and deer hunting are entirely hers.
<3333333333 thank you for this wonderfully kind comment. You're one of my favorite writers in HH fandom, so I'm really honored.

There's a really, really stupid sequel in progress. If you want to read it while it's being written, tell me, and I'll filter you in.
