Dropping the economic soap

When pressed by my peers to give a precise explanation of my political leanings, I usually find myself at a loss.  I’m part libertarian, but I have a strong charitable streak and a modicum of faith in public education systems.  Somewhere deeper down, though, I don’t think that the problems we face today are entirely the result of evil humans ( Read more... )

Two things, in response:

-I'm not entirely sure that all or even most innovation was driven or motivated by self-interest. It seems that the truly revolutionary inventors and thinkers were mainly just passionate. Greed rarely seems to factor into the situation, with the exception of...Henry Ford? I think greed might be an overrated virtue.

-How do you propose the government gain the insight to outlaw illegal things when the corporations are sitting on government panels?
