It would appear that my accidental destruction of this magical journal was... ill-advised. The blasted thing seems to be indestructable. Even going a round with my most caustic potion did nothing

The only thing that has worked so far for me is to accidentally lose it. Unfortunately, the house elves have a nasty habit of finding it again, so that's only a temporary solution.

True enough. However, the house elves in my parents home have a nasty habit of mistaking my rarest and most expensive potions ingredients for dirt or old weeds, and I've had perfectly good projects spoilt by their attempts to "clean" my rooms.
