Oh, this is lovely. Your Millicent is so real, so fragile and strong at the same time, and the pathos surrounding her makes her seem even more solid in the best of ways. I love seeing her interactions with others, both in her house and out. It really brings her to life. We need more Millicent fic!

Nice way to end hopeful but not 'happily ever after'. I also like your writing style--sensitive to emotions and such, but not florid. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing you write some more Millicent fic (not that I'm hinting or anything . . . ).
