I have windows facing east, west, and south, and managing the influx of sunlight makes a big difference in how much air-conditioning I need in the summer. In the morning, I angle the blinds in the east windows to let in only indirect sunlight, and in the afternoon I do the same in the west windows. The south windows pretty much stay covered up all summer.
