(Come on, LJ, don't be a little bitch...let's post this thing...)
Round 2 of
spnartistswap has wrapped and once again, much fun was had by all! I tried to go all-traditional media and BLARG, it did not turn out the way I wanted (naturally) and then scanned for poo, but I'm posting anyway because 1.) it's a good practice in humility and 2.) I dunno, to prove

I didn't see your interpretation as literal, especially as thimblings original was not distinguishable as a person, could have been male or female (or neither). Literal in the sense of design, perhaps. Though having said that, that was exactly my fear when submitting my Samifer, especially after seeing some of the other works - wowser. But my style is quite stiff and formal looking so I find it hard to do anything looser.
This one reminds me of the book covers for some of Kristine Katherine Rusch's books - that wasn't you was it?? http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1231672266l/1280892.jpg

I'm not familiar with KKR's books but THAT is the wonderful Thomas Canty's art! I looooove his delicate linework. He hasn't done much lately so it's hard to find really clear scans of his work on-line but I'll bet it looks amazing in-person. So thank you!

Welcome to my world 24/7, bb. Where the original media sometimes bites you in the butt, the scanner always bites you in the butt, or EVERYTHING bites you in the butt at the same time. I have many teethmarks. ;)
Your Meg is stunning! Coal black hair, glowy white eyes, glossy red lips, and that teeny thread of blood running down. She's like a demonic Snow White, you know? :) And that hair, oh, that hair, I LOVE it! Downright glorious, so dark and sexy, from the highlights to those sinuous coils. What IS her hair? Ink, or watercolor? Or both?
One question, though . . . why is the demon smoke white? (Not to mention her eyes.) Is there something about Meg that you're not telling us? Or is it not demon smoke?
Oops, second question. ;) Do the vertical lines signify anything? It looks almost as if she's in a cage . . .

The demon smoke is white simply because that's what my prompt image used. AND I was kinda rushed, or I'd have done a digital color draft to work it out. The black smoke would've been kinda awesome. OR! Maybe an angel is getting revenge on Meg and taking her over, the demon and an angel fighting over the meatsuit. Orrrrrrr maybe I'm talking smack.
Those vertical lines were an attempt to add a little grit and texture and ended up too dark, but at that point, I was committed. Again, WHERE IS MY UN-DO BUTTON? *whines*
You're a doll, lady. You say inordinately nice things. Don't ever stop. :D
