15X2: Raising Hell (and a few hackles)

Oct 21, 2019 17:19

Sorry for the late review! My local CW network has decided to air high school football instead of SPN, and the livestream I was using kept cutting out, then I went out of town (to Toledo, Ohio, actually; home of Eric Kripke), so here we are finally.

The first episode's corralling of the ghosts was weak but at least that episode was mildly engaging and enjoyable. This week's was just tedious as Crowley's queuing-hell, and when it wasn't boring the pants off me it was irritating.

It's actually quite an achievement by Sucklemmon that they can include just about everyone I have liked and cared about for 15 seasons and leave me utterly indifferent to their fate. I seriously doubt even the most undiscerning action junkie would have found anything interesting about that episode.

Yeah, what a mess that was.

The ghost of Jack the Ripper -- whatever his name was -- was so not scary. Unionize, LOL. Seriously, what claptrap.

I admittedly enjoyed Amara giving no shits about Chuck and taking off. It is kind of funny that he is trapped in a revenge scenario of his own making. Like he thought he was going to skip to some other universe hahahahaha.

Ketch/Rowena was such a nope. Stop wasting time! It's the last season you morons!!

Sorry, I'm sure the terrible two aren't reading this.

You've summed things up nicely with Dean, Cas, and Sam. My only concern right now is Sam, but you know, that's just me.

That's me too. You know.

And yeah, big agree on the Chuck-n-Amara interactions (and that Chuck is fucked by his own hand, SO TO SPEAK.) I still loathe that they personified God like that and gave him a sister, for pete's sake. But I guess the Romans did that too, and we're stuck with it, so.

No, not just you--I'm concerned about Sam, too, and I'd like the writers to get to telling his story, what with the last season, and all.

If they're going to do a curtain call of the beloved characters through 15 years do you think we could get at least a glimmer of why they became beloved? The reason the viewership viewed them fondly? Otherwise it's just a "get ON with it" reaction.

I guess nepotism is the reason they continue to entrust storyline to Bucklemming. Well, only the rest of the season to have to endure that, huh?

Dabb doesn't know how to dig deep, he really doesn't. And that goes for the auxiliary characters too. I'm not sure the show runners (Dabb, Singer, BuckLeming) actually *know* writing. They know how to throw a TV script together, but not how to dig into character and use that to keep your viewer hooked. Eh, but I'm must smoke-grinding now. We're stuck with them. *sigh*

The bullet wound was the only interesting thing about the eps. I have to rewatch--I missed quite a bit due to my eyes rolling to the back of my head--but I think your grade was very generous.

IT DID! But I've got a ridiculously busy weekend so I probably won't be able to review until Monday. Did you like it?
