Like we need more places to read about SPN, heh...

...and I need another thing to do, but I've volunteered to write the odd article about Show for a site called SPNHunters. My motives are a little biased, I'll admit. I've noticed a distinct lack of quality attention paid to our boy Sam, from both fandom, show, and social media outlets. I could whinge about it endlessly, but I decided to put my ( Read more... )

What did Jared say about it? Did he recognise your style from the book cover? EEEE!

And yay for show discussions (even if they are somewhere else) LOL

Nah, Jared doesn't know me from Adam, heh. (Who?) LOL! Maybe someday I'll make it back to a con and I can get him to sign one of my copies of the book, at which point I'll introduce myself and steal a hug! :D ( ... )

Ha ha I totes understand. For me Dean can't really be Dean unless Sam is playing a meaningful role in his life so if they relegate Sam to the sidelines they are effectively sidelining a huge chunk of what makes Dean, Dean. Which is a Bad Thing.

If this season is the last, it might not matter but why kill the cash cow, right?

There's been the weirdest twitter rumblings (from some of the most fringe elements) that they're actively trying to phase Sam out, and some fans want this, so Jared can be free to enjoy his family and do better projects. Which, WHUT? I mean, I certainly understand J2 wanting to ease up, but not THIS eased up.

Going back to Sam's smarts - without re-watching the episode, why did they need to kill that demon's vessel? Or did they know Eunice was already dead so it was the only way to be sure of killing the demon?

For your future topics, do you have to coordinate with other writers on subject matter? There seem to be a lot of articles, it's hard to pick something...
Some possibilities:
- Something about what motivates Sam and how is it different from what motivates Dean? And how those motivators might have changed over the seasons.
- Rock paper scissors!
- Dean's relationship with Crowley
- Possession and all it's baggage (angel and demon)

Dean told Mrs. Tran they figured Eunice was already dead, per the show. Not sure there was any concrete proof of this, save past experience, but yeah, you got it.

I don't have to coordinate topics, but there's a spread sheet so we all know what's in the works. Many are the standard episode reviews. I kinda wanna get more meta than that.

Thanks for the topic ideas! I'll put 'em on the list.

Yes they look to be lacking in thought provoking meta. I read one piece about a plot hole that made it sound like there had never been on before! LOLx100k at that.

The articles are supposed to follow certain protocol, which includes short, snappy paragraphs and reiterating your key words over and over. Which isn't my style. I won't get overly deep in the articles--the site style doesn't suit tons of reading--but to operate as though fandom hasn't thought about plot holes before? I don't think they guy who wrote it is actually IN fandom.

Awesome picture!!!

And nice article about Sam's smarts :)

How about his most heroic moments? My 2 cents--season 11 when he gets tricked back into the cage with Lucifer who, after trying to win Sam over with psychology, reverts to brute force--and Sam, knowing he's in for a world of hurt, still says 'no.' (I actually cheered at my TV.)

Moment #2--season 12 when Sam and Dean have tracked Luci to the rock concert and Sam holds the doors open so the concertgoers can escape.

Looking forward to reading more!

I looove the most heroic moments idea, and it would be interesting to look at those for BOTH guys, and compare and contrast their brands of heroism!
