It's a tie: when Sam died (the first time)--Dean just tears my heart out there!--and when the Harvelles sacrificed themselves to take out the hell hounds and buy the others time. It might be an unpopular opinion for some, but I really think Ellen and Jo's deaths were so brave and powerful. I hated that they died but I was so proud of them for doing it. Gorgeously strong women.
5.) What is my favorite moment from any of the gag reels?
Oh, jeeze, that's tough! How can I pick? I think maaaybe it's any of the times someone is off-screen deliberately trying to goof someone else up. You can just tell how much fun they're having and how much they like each other. :D I'm so sappy!
Ellen and Jo's deaths were totally heartwrenching, I tear up every time I watch that episode.... and Dean's speech over Sam's body? Man. That kind of encapsulates everything that made me love Dean so much.
Blast, woman! Making me think hard ... guess I get what I get! ;)
64.) What's your biggest fear for season 11?
I haven't read your answer yet so let's see how close I come.
Since Carver's reign began, I've had this low-grade rumble of dissatisfaction with how dumb the characters have been acting. Especially Sam, of course. But my BIG fear? It's fandom, and the fighting. I hate the constant malcontent and self-victimization from the loudest Destielers, and I reeeeally hate character bashing. None of this is particular to 11, but it's what I like the least about being in a fandom. I've sorta come to terms with what the show has become, so instead of fears, I have hopes for 'better' things ... like more smart Sam and funny Dean and weird Cas. More scary-as-hell stories. A return to the early seasons vibe. Hey, I'm easy!
38.) Which director/writer is or was your favorite/least favorite?
Oooh, good one! My fave director, hands down, was Kim Manners. No question. He was such an amazing talent. He influenced so much of what we think of as classic SPN. I don't really have a least favorite director, though I'm no fan of Robert Singer's silly zooms.
Favorite writer WAS Ben Edlund; but since he left us, the jerk, I'm really fond of Bob Berens' episodes. I like the way he navigates social media, too. Least favorite writers are Ross-Leming & Buckner ... not a particularly surprising answer, right?
I know episodes aren't solely the product of one writer alone, even though SPN doesn't have a writers' room per se, but there are still better and worse episodes that seem to correlate to certain folks. I'm really interested to see who writes what next year!
YISS Edlund, I remember listening to the season 4 commentary by Sera Gamble once, how she had a tough time writing the Sam detox episode and Edlund made a lot of important suggestions. Those two really loved the characters :-D
