One of my burning questions...show hasn't mentioned the Veil and all that at all which makes me think they've forgotten they ever mentioned it. They never really gave us a lot of information about it in the first place so whatever we come up with could be true...
(Or are they just getting jobs as taxi drivers to kill the time?)
. . . and this is why I adore you. :)
I think the writers either have forgotten about the veil situation -- or made the mistake of thinking that WE would forget. I should think Metatron's spell is still in existence -- wouldn't he have to turn it off? (On the other hand, Hannah returned quite easily to Heaven, so the angels are no longer cut off, but who knows?) As far as the Reapers go, well, have we even seen Death since the beginning of S8? Idjit writers destroyed an awesome character had Tessa defect to the "other side," then killed her off. Other Reapers may have met the same (offscreen) fate. And what about Kevin? They can't NOT resolve that situation.
I'm really hoping the issue is revisited and TPTB doesn't just toss in a bit of exposition that has everything magically fixed offscreen.
Though that is exactly the sort of thing they would do. >.And if they DO revisit the veil issue, I hope they don't turn it into a rehash of S6 and have anyone
( ... )
Revisiting the Veil would be an EXCELLENT excuse to have Osric back on, so I reeeeeally hope they come up with something interesting to explore on that plane. What does the Prime Material Plane look like to ghosts, anyway? Does it depend upon their level of sentience? It might be cool to do something with the various 'grades' of ghosts, too. There are residual hauntings (supposedly), which are just memories stuck in a place. There are ghosts who don't even know they're dead (Molly, way back in...S1? S2?) And then there's the fully aware ones, like Kevin.
Oh! And astral travel! Dooood, there's so much they could do with this. If only.
I think Hannah said they made the doorway to Heaven at the playgound permanent but I don't know if that's for angels only or not.
The reapers all got cab driver jobs in New York City or driving those small transport carts at O'Hare airport. Is that Hell adjacent? Depends on the day and the weather, probably. The New Yorkers who drink endless cups of coffee while chain-smoking and only wearing black know that New York City is part of the Veil already. The Ferry Man had to get a job taking folks out to Staten Island.
Seriously, Kevin though, he's stuck here until somebody does a salt and burn on his Dad's ring. (I think it was a ring.)
I was going to make a joke about there being a Hell gate on Wall Street but I thought maybe that was going too far. Hell's Kitchen is available though.......
*strokes imaginary mustache* I like how I find indomitable questions to ask fandom and fandom immediately goes to task on answering them, even though it's really difficult. Reapers are totally another thing. And Death can't be happy with the current soul traffic jam situation, I mean, we do know him as a stickler for the rules. Can someone send Julian by the writers' room one of these days to knock their heads together about that? That would be awesome.
