I've spent the last ten minutes or so cutting my fringe. I'm thinking I might get a completely different haircut, actually. When I was very young my parents insisted on having my hair cut very short to distinguish me from my sister (oh, yes, because we looked so much alike! Identical, I'm certain...) and somehow that became warped into something ' ( Read more... )

your grammar and vocabulary are going all native, old bean.

Fringe = bangs, yes? also, "I've not decided yet" translates to "I haven't decided yet." It's the little things.

Yes, I was talking about bangs. I didn't even notice that my grammar was changing like that! How odd, but in a sort of cool way.

You're very observant. :)

I find them immensely useful for flicking about when annoying people try to step on the backs of my shoes.
Yes! Me too! :)

And you're welcome - I think those cards are excellent :)

True... and it's easier for guys to smell your hair or touch it... you know, like in those shampoo commercials... ;] more styling too...

my father wanted a son, not another daughter

Hate it when that happens... it's as if people have real control over that kind of stuff... *sigh* And I just watched Dogma too... XD

I'm not much for a hairflicker unless I want to use it as a weapon -- but it's immensely handy in that way ;)

Dogma's a great film :)

when you're young and impressionable, you take on the world around you and you make it a part of yourself.

And then I feel I should say that the identity muddle gets started, though I can't really that with any confidence since I'm not sure about it or not, though it must exist or there wouldn't be so much fiction based on identity would there, nor would there be the practice of studying human nature. I suppose that's where people become conflicted and multidimensional, and I suppose that's what causes certain people to become self analytical.

Or perhaps that's overthinking.

My sister and I had a hair identity. Hers was always the longer, then last year we inverted and I had long hair while she cut hers short, though I think the balance has returned now that my hair is once again shorter than hers.

My, that was vain.

I think you have a valid point about identity -- I suppose ultimately it would be great if people could become multidimensional without feeling conflict. But there are far too many influences to try and to take into account, or accept or reject, and that's where the conflict is -- because how much of what we think and choose for ourselves is really our choice? Hm.

And no, it's not vain at all :)
