Right, so, it’s safe to say I’m a huge fan of this series, both the book and the mini-series. In the mini-series, Remigius is used as a pawn by the bad bishop, Waleran. See, Waleran was Remigius’ confessor, and Remigius confessed he was gay. His penance was to call-out the other guy, and Waleran would spare Remigius from death. Of course, as long as Remigius did whatever Waleran said.
This is set after Phillip is replaced by Remigius as Prior.
Part one is here.

Phillip had been the one that spotted Remigius when he returned from Bishop Waleran’s palace. Phillip had never really trusted Waleran, and didn’t trust his relationship with Remigius. But, he suppressed these negative thoughts and greeting Remigius warmly.
“How was the Bishop?”
“He’s doing very well.”
“I’m pleased to hear that.”
Remigius nodded. “Please make sure no one bothers me for the next three days.”
“Of course Prior.”

Phillip didn’t concern himself with priory gossip on why Remigius was spending time alone, not eating and only praying.
He emerged a new man three days later.

Phillip was chatting with some of the younger monks when Remigius found him. He was very perky that afternoon. He had been fasting for three days, and Phillip assumed Cuthbert had prepared quite a meal for Remigius.
“Brother Phillip, may I speak to you for a minute?”
Phillip excused himself from the knot of novices and walked over. “You are looking well Prior.”
“Thank you. I need some help in my room this afternoon. I have things to do, but my floors need to be scrubbed. After my three-day fast, I’d like to give my room the same cleaning. Would you help me?”
“Of course.”
“Excellent.”

They were silent as they walked toward the Prior’s room. The room Phillip once occupied. It looked very much the same, except it was no longer his. The sparse personal items were Remigius’, not his. He felt guilt twist at his stomach as he entered the room.
“Thank you,” Remigius said. There was a strange tone in his voice. He shut the door, and indicated a bucket of water. “Please save the area where I’ll be standing for last.”
Phillip just nodded and got down on the floor.

Phillip had been working for about an hour. Remigius was reading from the Bible, standing behind a table, though he was keeping a close eye on the former prior.
“Phillip,” he said softly, voice husky with some tone that Phillip couldn’t recognize. “Why don’t you stop for a minute?”
Phillip put the dirty, battered brush in the bucket of water and shifted so he was sitting on the ground, rubbing his sore knees. Remigius had pulled a chair over, and was sitting facing Phillip.
“May I ask you something Prior?” Phillip said softly.
“Yes.”
“Why did you visit Bishop Waleran?”
“Ah, that...” Remigius smiled slyly. “I had a favour to ask of him.”
Phillip nodded, perfectly content with the answer.
“You see Brother Phillip, I needed to ask for forgiveness.” It was not uncommon; monks sinned as often as non-clergy.
In a burst of courage, Phillip asked, “Is that why you were fasting?”
Remigius nodded. “You are a smart man Phillip.”
“Just observant Prior.”
“I needed forgiveness for a future sin.”
Now, that caught Phillip off-guard! “Future sin?”
“God came to me in a dream. He showed me what I must do, but it was technically a sin.” Remigius sighed dreamily. “The fasting, the chores, the penance, it has not pleased God.”
Phillip’s heart sank. “Wh-what do you mean?” he stuttered out.
Remigius was delighted with the other man’s fear. He knew that all Phillip ever wanted to do was please God. “You feel the guilt, and the penances I have given you don’t seem to be getting rid of it. You focus on the guilt instead of God.”
“What do you plan on having me do?” Phillip’s voice was drenched in fear.

Remigius looked over his shoulder to make sure the door was still closed, and slowly rolled his long robes up to about his knees. “Come a bit closer,” he said.
Phillip obliged, crawling a few inches closer. He was sitting on his knees again, but tried to keep his weight off his right, the one that was hurting the most. He was confused, having no idea why Remigius had rolled his robes up.
But, Remigius continued until he had fully exposed himself, hard length mere inches from Phillip, who had flinched.
He wanted to force out, “What is the meaning of this?” but the words wouldn’t come.
“Use that pretty little mouth of yours Phillip.” Remigius had reached forward and brushed his fingers lightly against Phillip’s cheek.
Phillip backed up slightly. “This isn’t a penance. This is a sin.”
Remigius half-grinned. “I, however, have been forgiven. You have too. The quicker you use your mouth, the quicker this can all be over.”
“No, I refuse.” He tried to back up more, but Remigius grabbed the front of his robes, now pulling. He almost knocked Phillip over.
“You will, and you will tell no one. Since I am also your confessor, there is no need to tell anyone.” He dragged Phillip closer still. “Use. Your. Mouth.”

There was really no escape and there was no denying that Phillip was frightened. His mouth?
“Stop stalling,” Remigius growled.
“God forgive me...” Phillip muttered before finally coming closer. He was shaking.

He did not want to take Remigius into his mouth. He figured that simply licking would be enough. He did not want to do that either, but he had no choice. Phillip leaned close now, closer than he had ever expected or wanted to be. He slowly extended his tongue and cautiously licked the head.

That did not please Remigius. He moved his hands to the back of Phillip’s head and forced him down. Phillip coughed, but Remigius did not let go. Phillip wasn’t really sure what to do. He was nearly gagging. Remigius’ hand fell to the back of Phillip’s neck, where he pulled the collar of his robe. Phillip was being manipulated, forced to run his lips and tongue over the hard length again and again.

He felt horrible and sick. He had become completely passive, letting Remigius push and pull on his collar. The seconds seemed like eternities. He began saying the Lord’s Prayer in his head. His concentration was broken when he heard Remigius let out a low groan. He closed his eyes and continued the prayer.
What he didn’t notice was that he was actually whispering it.

The vibrations of the words set Remigius over the edge. Fluids spurted out into Phillip’s mouth, causing him to pull away in shock and disgust, coughing. He was on his hands and knees now, spitting the white, sticky mass out of his mouth. He had turned dreadfully pale.
Remigius’ voice was very throaty now. “Clean that part of the floor again.”

Six months later, Phillip was reinstated as Prior, and Remigius was forced out of Kingsbridge. Still, Phillip had not told anyone about what had happened the day he was cleaning floors.

-Ten Years Later-
Remigius had always been thin, but now he was skeletal. He had found the Witch Ellen a few months previous. He used to want her dead, but now he had become a changed man. He told her he had so many things to apologize for.

They returned to Kingsbridge after Remigius had gained some weight and strength back. The other monks had seemingly already forgiven him, but he knew he had to make amends to one person in particular. The cathedral was progressing nicely, Remigius noted. He asked one of the younger monks where he could find the Prior.

Phillip was studying in his room when he heard the knock at his door.
“Yes?”
Remigius entered the room, looking down. “Hello Prior.”
“Remigius?”
He nodded. “I came here to apologise Phillip.” The words just came tumbling out. “What happened ten years ago was...I wasn’t thinking clearly, I was blinded by power and guilt and so many other things. I’m sorry.” He turned to leave, but Phillip stopped him, a hand on his shoulder.
“I forgave you years ago.”
