 What does it say about me that I just came back from Star Trek*, opened my email, and saw that Dad had linked me to an article from a German paper, written in German, AND I UNDERSTOOD IT!!!!! *bounces* I haven't studied German in eight years, haven't used it at all in six, and I UNDERSTOOD WHAT THE ARTICLE SAID! I thought I'd forgotten everything ( Read more... )

Go you! :) I've forgotten pretty much all the French I used to know, but then, I never really knew it that well... the article sounds interesting - oldest piece of art in the world? Wow! (and gotta ask, lol - when you say "human-made"... is there like animal-made art out there that I don't know about? XD)

And wasn't Star Trek awesome? I'm not a fan either, but had a great time anyway. Fun movie, good writing and actors, shiny special effects. And Sylar as Spock. XD (and since seeing it, I have in fact read a few ST XI based Kirk/Spock fics.. over at the st_xi kink fest (http://community.livejournal.com/st_xi_kink/379.html). ^^; Help?)

Tous tes français? Quel domage! lol I'm still pretty up on my French too, partly because I studied it more recently, and partly, I think, because I still read the French labels on food products. >> And actually, upon rereading, it's "representation of the human form". Which is close! But yeah, I don't think we're precluding the possibility of, say, chimp or gorilla art.

Yes, awesome, indeed. I just sent you an email about the awesomeness. XD I don't think I can help you avoid kink fics or find better ones (sorry, with you it's often hard to tell what you're asking XP). I'm just not into that part of fandom as much as you are.

I only really know high school French... well, and 1st year, which was the equivalent of French 12 cuz I dropped out of the aforementioned class in gr12 then realized i needed it for an Arts degree. ^^;

ROFL, I'm not always sure what I'm asking either, lol. But in this case it was more of a general plaintative but joking "help me, what am I doing??" than a "please give me more" because I didn't expect you to have links handy or be particularly interested. ;) I'm just trying to wrap my brain around the fact that I read K/S, considering it basically marks the beginning of the slash genre... heh.

(got your email, btw, and am reading the SPN/Twilight fic now - LOL Dean sparkles... and Sam's about to buy the books now. Will report back when finished.)

I've seen more than that, simply because I've spent a fair number of lunches/early afternoons at home instead of at school or work, because of schedules, and Star Trek's about the only good thing on… So I've seen enough of Classic Trek, Next Gen, and Voyager to have a handle on the fandom, but I'm not a fan. I don't read the fic, look at the art, or participate in any way. I just know what's going on, mostly. ^^

Personally, I won't be watching it again, at least till it's on DVD. I remember plots and scenes too well to enjoy a second pass the same amount.
