Crap crap crapola day of the hellish variety

Sep 24, 2002 19:10

Day started OK as per usual. Meeting for start of week, and learning/practising what I know about processing newspapers/ref in the morning. Then I get called down to see my boss. Not the 21 yr old team leader 'geek boy'. The one second in command of the whole of all the library assistants. The one who organises my training etc. I get this pit in my ( Read more... )

oh honey. don't take this too hard, i know your confidence is at low ebb, but it's just one of those unpleasant early-in-the-job things. i think they're being oversensitive about the mentioning stress to a customer - quite often that's a good idea, customers very responsive to that. as for the rest - when you are stressed you do raise your voice, sweetie, but that's just you and it'll stop once you get used to things and aren't overwhelmed. if you like the job then don't you dare quit - that's for jobs that make you unhappy, not for ones that you'll be more unhappy if you leave. {{hugs}} i know it stings, dear, cause it always stings, but really, they aren't looking at you oddly. in two days you'll be the only one even remembers it. love you.

I won't quit, promise! I'm sure they aren't looking at me oddly I just felt they were, (and are). I'm sure it's just me.
TY for being so supportive! Love you ALL.

oh honey g. ((hugs)) when everything is still new and fresh its so easy to get told off on the smallest thing. please dont quit. everyone makes mistakes, i'm sure even the senoir didnt mean you to take it so hard, thast she just wants you to be aware and improve more on your performance. takiong on board the suggestions - being more aware of, say, your voice ( ... )

Not quitting, like I said, (I know I said a lot) I had enough control not to. I don't really want to. I wouldn't cry if I quit saturdays tho'. And since I have two jobs I'd still have a job at the library that way. That's all.

And yeah, she says everyone makes mistakes. She was prob'ly real nice if you could actually see her instead of crying like I did.

sorry you had such a horrible day. I think we've all had those times when we feel we've been told off for no good reason (one particular incident at my current job comes to mind and about 3 dozen at previous place!) and it always hurts, makes you cry and then you get angry. I always take it far worse than it was meant, brood on it long after everyone else has forgotten it, and of course, you think of resigning. But don't! Try to remember that they'll have forgotten it way before you do, and its a much bigger deal to you than them
*hugs* hope you have a better day

I'm sure they will forget, but as you say, it's harder for me than tham. Am feeling tons better today. I slept on it, plus the lady who told me off said it wasn't THAT serious. Which was such a relief.
