lower-class is unfortunately overloaded, too. Some words that I use occasionally instead:
"broke" "stuck" "trapped" "ghettoed"
The last one is a rough one, but the social-assistance housing projects that I grew up were very much ghettos. Right down to the government choosing our housing for us.
The one I don't have a word for that I wish I did is something other that "undereducated" - since one can only be under another object or standard - and I don't know what that standard for education should be, nor how to measure it.
