Welllll, yes, but I think there's a metanarrative in regard to Vicki, and also in regard to Tony (who is protagonist of SMOKE series which follows BLOOD) in changes of their lives. And I liked the way in which the "monster" tropes were changed in the BLOOD series, especially the Frankenstein one which was (in my reading) truly feminist, and scary as all get out.
