In my best Southern accent...Them are some fighting words!
I've discovered in my many years of volunteering to usher for theatrical events that there is usually one head usher who coordinates with all the other ushers (i.e. contacts them, makes the assignments (hand out programs, take tickets, help people find their seats) and handles disgruntled patrons). Since the head usher for the local theater group (he actually calls himself the house manager) can't perform his duties for the next show, he asked me, as a long-standing usher, to fill in for him. It's not as glamorous as it may sound. Haha. I jest. :P
The best part and really the only reason I usher is because you get to see the shows for free. And in the case of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels where the tickets can cost in excess of $50 (it's a touring company), putting on a red vest and dealing with the public for a few hours is a bargain imo. And I only usher for one performance per show so it's not like I'm sacrificing my whole weekend.
Ah, yes, that's what I forgot to ask, if you'll be able to watch the shows despite being "on duty". I hope there won't be any incidents in which you'll have to carry away any disgruntled patrons that may keep you from watching. But I'm confident you'll be able to keep them in check. :)
Yep...as soon as the lights go down you get to grab any available seat. :D And I've been known to give people THE LOOK. It usually shuts them up. Or they laugh at me. :/
I owe the Keane board for introducing me to The Hoosiers as well as a lot of other bands. I hardly listen to the radio anymore since my music collection has expanded so much in the past two years.
This should take you to me: Jennifer It's Jennifer and there are probably a million Jennifer's on there. Or maybe it's Queentab73. I'm not exactly sure. :P
