Spent maybe too much time wandering through the library of congress photostream on flickr this evening... but I thought I'd share some of the ones I found especially striking, since I've wandered through so many and have them all open in tabs now ;)

lots of pictures )

Old pictures of places always make me want to find the same place and rephotograph it for comparison. (Norway's preeeetty. We should go.)

Wikipedia says Mary Bartelme was the first woman elected to a state circuit court in Illinois.

I want to know what the deal was with the boy doing the dance in a skirt and head jewelry. (Probably some sort of circus performer, one guesses.)

- time for breakfast.

I think it's theatrical dance, not circus. He's probably meant to look Egyptian. Someone pointed out this as possibly the same person: http://query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=9402E3D71E3AE633A25751C1A9649C946296D6CF

Ooh! Thanks for sharing these! One more reason I'm happy to be catching up on the last few months of lj! :) (I'm gonna start posting again soon, I swear...)

I haven't been posting much myself lately. I read lj, but I haven't really bothered to write up anything I'm doing in anything longer than a twitter post.
