"Someone, somewhere, is dying right as I'm typing this. At the very same time, people are laughing and fucking. The contrast seems jarring, but really, the alternative would be so bleak as to make dying a blessing, because people are dying all the time." -- wastrel

You'll eventually get cheerier thoughts out of knowing me, I promise. :-/ *hugs*

I'm glad you got something out of it, and thank you for posting it, if only for how seeing it like this made me think about it differently from when I had before. It was either that or "Caring for everyone is impractical. Caring for no one is dehumanizing. Caring for some people but not for some others is favoritism. Pick your poison..."

...

I did promise I'd be cheerier eventually, as in, maybe not right away, didn't I? n_n;

This is why the word monkeysphere is so useful.

Caring for people in your monkeysphere, but not for those outside, is perfectly natural and normal and acceptable.

I rather enjoy the prospect of dieing. It fits in well with the idea of things breaking down in their due time.

It is. You just won't ever again be the you that you are now.

Just as long as I don't get reincarnated as a jive suckah.

And one of those moments it will be you, me, and everyone here. While I am dieing someone will be making similar remarks somewhere in the world. We are all just one big lumpen mass of energy all swirling together.

The idea of people laughing and fucking when I die is comforting to me; life should go on in all of the best ways possible.

As long as they aren't in the room with me at the time.
