As I assume you all already know, Ashes to Ashes, is the spin off series from the excellent ‘Life on Mars’. The show keeps the ‘time travelling cop out of water’ premise but moves the action from Manchester to London and the time from the 1970’s to the 1980’s.

When I saw this episode in 2008, I did not recognise RG as 'the young bloke from all the Merchant-Ivory films' as I thought of him! Then on realising, I was amazed at how fantastically well he'd aged. (And loved his teeth.) Him narrating 'Dorian Gray' is what, post modern? Post ironic?
Then with Sherlock and my RG obsession, I started seeing RG in every other TV series! And yeah, rewatched A2A. And yeah, I'm old enough to have had most of the records played in as singles.
I loved RG's yuppie wide-boy. I think he brought a lot to it and had a whale of a time with it and the clothes and the DeLorean. Probably relived his youth a bit and helped me to!
