June Plot Post: Part Three

Jun 15, 2011 15:51

We're sure many of you have already read the High Priestess's post on the Vine; we encourage characters to work together on trying to puzzle out exactly what she's trying to say, using realistic powers of deduction and observation at their disposal. This here is an OOC heads-up to clarify just what she's talking about.

When the Queen had her temper tantrum back at the beginning of the month, she obviously did something, and observant characters would have seen the stars fall out of the sky, toward the wild places. This was just a visual representation - no actual stars fell from the sky - but it may give the characters a clue as to what to do next, or rather where to go.

The 'walls' the High Priestess is talking about are the barriers that have been blocking off the wild places from entry for the past week, which some characters may already have encountered. Those barriers have now disappeared, leaving the characters free to come and go from the wild places as they wish.

The last part - 'take what's yours' - is probably the least immediately obvious but also the most important part of the whole thing. In order to stop the phantoms from continuing to appear, characters need to venture into the wild places to recover certain artifacts. While the exact nature of these items is something that we're afraid we have to refrain from discussing for the time being, they resemble large, multifaceted gemstones and are clearly magical in nature. Coming into the vicinity of a stone will make it glow brightly, but only for a specific character - perhaps leading the characters to believe that there is one stone for each of them. In any case, the 'right' character coming into the vicinity of the 'right' stone will feel a powerful sense of connection to it. (e.g. if Character A and Character B are both in the vicinity of a stone, it might only respond to Character A.)

The stones do not have any obvious powers or seem to do very much at all except feel strangely warm to the touch. Looking into them will result in a character seeing fragmented, confused bits and pieces of her own memories, but this only works for the character the stone is 'connected' to.

We're giving characters a day or so to try to figure things out ICly. Tomorrow, we'll be posting a plot post for people to form up teams to venture into the wild places if they so desire, as well as a log post for folks to log everything out. The remainder of this event will last through the 22nd, after which we will have the conclusion of this month's plot and the Gardens will return to normal - at least, as normal as the Gardens can get.

As a reminder, characters are encouraged but absolutely not required to participate.
