Akiha was in a room she'd had made when the mansion was first created, on the second floor, but no one resided in. Not here, at least. No one would bother her there; not since Hisui had left. She could tell her absent maid had made sure to keep the room crisp and fresh, out of habit more than anything surely, but she'd not told Kohaku to continue as her sister had. Akiha knew this room would never be occupied and so it was a place where she really could be alone. A certain magician wouldn't think to look for her here...

...but Kris might start going room by room by room and violate this room with... with her...

"Foolish idiot," Akiha mumbled to herself as she closed her notebook and tucked it away in a drawer of the bedside table. She let herself out of the room without a sound and walked to the top of the stairs where she called down in a clipped voice.

"What?"

"There you are!"

Kris was clearly excited at having found Akiha! A grand feat this was. She made her way up the stairs so she could at least be on even footing with Akiha. Bending her neck to look up would be tiring anyway.

"Remember what I said before I left?"

Which time? Akiha bit back those words as she tossed her hair over her shoulder and started walking away from the head of the stairs down the wing toward the window at the end of the hall.

"You shouldn't have gone in the first place."

Kris struggled to keep by her side, stumbling a little. It was hard to stand by an imperious Akiha!

"Why not?"
