Unlike everyone else, Excellen has not, in fact, been under the influence of any magical music during these last few days. Either she lucked out or she is already insane enough that the Queen did not think it necessary to affect her.

Regardless, she is, for whatever reason, derping along the road when Sette leaps out. In response to the question, Excellen does not miss a beat and replies with complete seriousness, "No idea; there's no street signs."

"Well, it's mine," Sette insists, blocking Excellen's path with all imposing less-than-five-feet of her body. Her hands on her hips, she looks up at the older woman with a demand to be taken seriously burning in her eyes. "And I charge a toll."

She holds out her hand, expecting some form of payment.

Is this girl serious? There is nothing resembling an economy here, much less an accepted form of currency or anything to use it on. Excellen blinks and the slaps the palm of Sette's hand.

"What up, dawg?"

Sette looks at Excellen as though her head were on fire. Where she came from, this was not a gesture with any meaning.

"Pay up!" she insisted, shoving her open palm into Excellen's face. "An' some extra for that 'dog' crack!"

It was girly music but Kris enjoyed it quite a bit! She has had love songs the entire time too but feeling all fluffy and warm was good compared to the normal cold she felt. It really was a good thing.

Despite being caught up in listening, she didn't seem too surprised at the interloper hopping out. "This road. Unless you're saying someone owns it but I don't think that's possible, is it?"

Something about this girl's attitude and manners really irritated Sette. Sharp teeth grinding together, she spits out:

"'Course it does! It belongs to me! And you can't use it 'less you pay the fee."

"I don't have any money though. Sorry!" No, she doesn't even bother to check the pockets on her robe. Carrying money around here had long become obsolete.

"Then get offa me road!" she said, pointing into the woods. "The roadway be reserved for payin' customers only."

Fang has paid little mind to the music, has pushed it somewhere into the back of her thoughts, but it has her in an unusually good mood, all the same.

When the kid hops out of the bush, Fang's only course of action is putting a hand on her hip and raising an eyebrow. "Since you're askin', and I'm the only one I see walking on it..." And here she glances over her shoulder to make sure of this before returning her attention to Sette. "I suppose it'd be my road, kid."

Sette gets right up in her face. As much as she can with her lack of Tallness, at any rate. There's definitely an intrusion of personal space going on here, is the point.

"Wrong!" she shouts, stabbing Fang in the nose with the index finger of her right hand. "It's my road! And I charge a toll."

"Ow! Little--" Kids. Fang suddenly remembers she has little tolerance for them, unless they are quiet and unobtrusive. This one certainly isn't, and so Fang reaches to grab her wrist before any other unwanted physical contact occurs. There's strength in the hold, but she isn't making any attempt to hurt Sette. "Feisty little runt, aren't you? Don't reckon you noticed, but there's no currency here. You're outta luck." She almost leaves it at that, and then adds:

"Oh, right. Any more of that poking, and I'll pitch you across the Gardens, you hear?"

Sette twisted in Fang's grip, trying to break free. "Leggo me!" she shouted.

No luck. She was caught good and fast. So, what to do? Well, for Sette the answer was obvious: she balled her free hand up into a fist, and popped the older woman one right in the face. "Just try it, you!" she swore.

[Hands in her pockets and a rather adult song in her heart that doesn't at all change her manner towards a child, Reeve comes to a stop.]

Hello there, Sette. Well, I suppose it's actually the Queen's road, but good for you if you've claimed it for yourself.
Do I have your permission to move along?

"Not until ya pay me toll! Five copper sem or the equiv'lent."

[Reeve tries her best not to look amused. She puts her hands in her pockets and displays the contents-- which are fairly typical for her.]

Well, I did promise to pay last time we talked-- [indicating the Gil piece]-- this is all I have to pay my toll, Sette. Unless you'll take a favor or friendship as payment instead!

Sette snatches up the gil piece so quickly you'd barely realize her hand had moved before it was gone. She holds it up to the light, considering it.

"How much you'd say this here's worth, again?"
