It's certainly a change from my usual lifestyle, having the Vine always prowling around. It's like a village you can never leave, because the village follows you through the vines.

I can't remember the last time I had this little peace and quiet. Are humans always this talkative, or only when forced together under mysterious circumstances?

No, we're pretty much always chattering monkeys.

You could always go hang out with the robots or on the edges or something, if you really need peace and quiet.

Hmm, perhaps not. I'm not fond of the machines.

Really? They seem pretty harmless in general, at least once they know how to not be nuisances. Kind of cute.

There's probably some way to put it on like a privacy setting so you don't have to get messages... I haven't bothered to figure that out yet, but I could.

Even then, they tend to find their way around, one way or another.

Humans like to talk, yes.

May I ask what you are?

Ah, I see. Do you not interact with humans usually? Or just not long enough to put up with the chatter?

They come by occasionally, but it wasn't uncommon for me to go for weeks at a time without company besides my flowers.

Humans can be talkative, but not always and not all of them. It's definitely something that depends on the sort of humans in question and the circumstances they're in. ...I do prefer peace and quiet myself, though.

Hmm... given a choice between the company of humans or sunflowers, at least, I know which I'd prefer.

R-really? I would prefer humans... but I suppose that's subjective... and that I'm sort of human, myself, in a way, um...

Oh, humans love to sing, of course. They are animals, and like most animals, they have their many calls, crying out each to each.

Often the noises are tedious and crass, chatter and clatter, but now and again, one will sing a pretty song.

And like all animals, they are all but deaf to any song not their own.

Such a comparison is is not necessarily fair to other animals. [She smiles.] I've known some that were quite intelligent and well aware of what their fellow beasts were saying.

I find most comparisons involving humans are a little unfair to somebody.
