[ Caprica has to pause visibly for a moment, thinking over her answer before she speaks. ]

I think it makes a difference when you know that it isn't real. Were you visited by one of these things?

[ She sounds a little tense - this is the worst part of it, she thinks. So many children who shouldn't need to experience something like this. ]

A couple, actually.

[Although not perfectly fine, she didn't look TOO bothered by all of this.]

I'm sorry.

[ Sayaka may look all right, but Caprica has come to understand that the phantoms can sometimes be more hurtful than one realizes at first. After the thing wearing D'Anna's face and body had come and gone, and after she'd had tea with Jules, she'd let herself cry a little over it. And then she'd recovered quickly enough, because she was so very tired of being sad. ]

I think... it's all right to be angry, if that helps.

[She's actually far more worried about what she asked, wondering if there was any underlying implications about this whole thing.]

It was a while ago, so I'm just thinking back on it all.

I think I understand. It's only natural to be upset with something that's using the shape and sound of people you care for. It's not them, so that makes it even more horrible somehow, right?

Yeah, that's it exactly.

I keep finding people out there near the edges who have been tormented... these phantoms or whatever they are... they're bad news. If the queen is behind them... what would she hope to do by using them on us?

Clearly to launch ourselves into the arms of others for comfort, I bet. It's twisted and sick.

Hey, I've been punching first and asking questions later, it's served me pretty well so far. Far as I'm concerned, messing with my head's enough cause to give them a good hard beating.

So, you've had it too...?

Yeah. Some jackass showed up pretending to be my Dad. Well, my Mom now, but you know what I mean.

That's the second time I've heard of that happening.

If they're attacking you, and they're just images of the people you care about...well, I certainly hope that's not bad. I've had to do it about half a dozen times.

Well, they weren't really attacking me. Physically anyway.

Oh. The things that have been harassing people. Yeah...

[She says, as if there's something else you could have been talking about.]

... Is there something else around?

Nope, nothin' wrong with taking out your adversaries. Especially since you know it's not really them.

I... didn't actually know it at the time. I did think it was really them until I latched onto the idea that they weren't. Then I decided to run them through with a sword.

Who was it?

[she has an idea, but won't make assumptions about it]

Who else besides the two who technically drove me to madness? Though, I don't think you know of one of them.
