[If you have a keen nose or happen to be passing by the spaceship, if might become apparent that someone's spent the better part of the day baking with maple syrup. (Adversely, if you happen to be inside the spaceship, chances are good you've already found the freshly baked stash of maple cookies big enough to feed the Royal Canadian Air Force ( ( Read more... )

[Zenobia is circling the spaceship and keeping her distance for now. She looks absolutely puzzled.] What an odd structure. ...It smells good, too.

[But then Zenobia sees something that interests her more.] Oh! It's Canada!

[Still in her catch-and-throw mindset, she doesn't notice Zenobia until she hears her name. Then she catches the ball and keeps it, looking at the girl a moment before giving a nod, today's substitution for a friendly smile.]

Hello, Zenobia. [And she's back to whipping her lacrosse ball at the spaceship.]

Hello! I hope I'm not intruding. It's just that I've never seen a structure quite like this. Also, are you playing a game?

It's my sister's spaceship. This is lacrosse. It's a game my people invented, yes.

Well done.

[Jill's been watching for a bit, after hearing the repetitive noise and going to investigate.]

Thank you.

[She doesn't stop, sparing only a glance Jill's way. If she wants something more from Canada, she'll say it.]

Is this just how you get over this, or is this how you are and I was accidentally misled into thinking you were the type to sit with her hands folded on calm days [She's attempting conversation because she remembers her from before, and it might be rude not to. But then again, it might be rude to do so.]

I like having things to do.

[And thwack goes the ball against the spaceship.]

But today it's for getting over things.

[Rude sticks her hands in her pocket, watching idly from behind her sunglasses.]

What are we playing here?

Lacrosse warm-up.

[And it doesn't stop just because someone's watching.]

[She continues to observe quietly. It doesn't really remind her of any of the sports played in Midgar, but she gets the idea about the stick.]

By yourself?

[Not that she can't warm up by herself, but Rude doubts the game goes well with only one.]

( Well, Maggie. There's a curious Australian kid watching, but she just watches for a long time before saying anything. )

Doesn't that work better with two people?

( You know, just in case you hadn't noticed that little fact, Canada. She's being extremely dry, of course. )

Or any multiple of two.

[She doesn't stop throwing the ball at the ship, although she does look over at Ellie to give her a nod of greeting.]

Too bad there wasn't anyone else around.

Right.

( She takes a seat on the ground, just watching Maggie go. ) Lacrosse, right? That's what you're playing? ( Her voice drops a bit, self correcting: ) Playing by yourself.

Maybe you can get some other people to play with you, next time.

That's what I'm hoping for.

Have you ever played?

[ Oh! Cookies! It may not be seafood but they smell so delicious that Seychelles can't help but be drawn to them. She briefly ponders taking one until she remembers her manners -- she knows that she ought to ask first. Yet who does she ask?

Seychelles momentarily scans the room before finally spotting Canada, who appears to be playing some sort of game but … all by herself? ]

Excuse me, miss, but did you make these?

[Catching and keeping the ball in the net of her stick, Canada blinks at the stranger, as if to be sure she really is a stranger, and then gives a nod.]

I did. Would you like one?

sellchelles May 27 2011, 22:41:39 UTC
Yes, please. They look delicious but I didn't want to take one without asking, so … [ she pauses for a moment -- there are so many people here that seem so familiar and yet … ]

Right... [There's a pause from Canada, too, and then she heads over and picks up one of the (many) plates of maple cookies she has kicking around the spaceship's kitchen, extending it to the younger girl with a polite smile.]
