Is SOLDIER some kind of organization?

[ Larry looks more curious than anything. New people are interesting, if nothing else. ]

[There can be no harm in providing others with information that is a matter of public record in her world, so she replies readily.] Yes, SOLDIER is a special fighting force, part of the military arm of Shinra, Inc.

And you are?

[ She nods. Makes sense, compared to knights and witches, even if the name is hella redundant. ]

Larry Vincent, just a normal bounty hunter and gunsmith.

Gunsmith. An admirable trade, though I prefer swordplay to gunplay myself.

Do you hunt criminals or monsters?

Anna Lin, formerly a Major in the Treasure Island Resistance. I stand ready to assist all new arrivals. SOLDIER is the name of your orginization, Sephiroth?

Assisting arrivals is a noble goal, Anna Lin. [She nods her head, pleased.] I appreciate your aid.

Yes, SOLDIER is the name of an elite force within the military arm of Shinra, Inc. Our operatives are currently engaged in combat, and this displacement has interrupted my mission.

Is there a location where people have gathered? I have spoken to a few individuals via this Vine, but I have seen none in person.

A housing complex, referred to by the Queen and her victims as "the Necessities." The cats here are intelligent enough to understand your questions and lead you there if you ask them.

I'm afraid you've been waylaid by a well meaning but quite insane power.

The cats, I see. I will ask them.

Insanity negates many of the benefits of good intentions, does it not? I've been informed that many of us are being kept here, against our will, some for lengthy periods of time. I do not understand why. For what purpose are we here? Is it sheer madness on the part of this Queen?

Jessica Boyette, of... well, nothing, right now.

As you've probably noticed, you're not where you were. And you probably can't get back.

Jessica Boyette. [She nods, acknowledging the introduction.]

Of nothing? Though you are separated from your comrades and your world, surely you are still tied to them and may honor them. [Her voice holds no warmth, but her tone is only polite and not chiding.]

I have been told that we are trapped here, something like subjects in an experiment, by an enigmatic entity.

Well, I dunno, I don't really feel like I need to honor Cleveland High School or anything.

Yeah, that's about the story. I'm not sure what kind of experiment this would be, other than "glaringly illegal and unethical." I've heard speculation about rebuilding a civilization, but that seems kind of difficult without the other sex.

My current hypothesis is "The Queen is freaking crazy."

I see your point, Jessica. [Her nod this time is accompanied by a faint smile] An academic institution might not inspire any great loyalty. What do you study?

It would certainly be an example of unethical science. Do such things not occur in your world? I am familiar with experiments of this kind. Subjects are exposed to various stimuli in a closed environment, their reactions and behavior monitored.

The mad also can conduct experiments. Yet I have heard the other theory, and I cannot disprove it.
