[ there's a slight rustle from a conveniently near-by tree, and out flies a Batarang, aimed right for the end of the rifle. Wanting to see if it hits or not, out pops a Bat, hanging upside-down by her knees from one of the lower branches ]

I understand that being kidnapped to an alternate universe is wildly inconvenient, but maybe you could do us all a favour and put that gun away. There's a perfectly-okay, there's a completely crap explanation for all this, but it's as good as you're gonna get. [ she shrugs, folding her arms across her chest ] Then again, I do have an arch-nemesis spot to fill, and boy, I haven't been shot in a few months.

[What are batarangs FOR if not for knocking guns out of people's hands? The rifle lands in the grass with a thud as Ionea backs up fearfully. In her current mental state it takes her several seconds to process that this horrible creature is talking to her rather than going for her throat.]

[ Batgirl pulls herself up, takes hold to the branch she was hanging from, and then drops to the ground. Keeping an eye fixed on the gun, she gestures to her chest with both hands ]

That's why I go around with this giant red heart on my, er-[ glancing down, Batgirl gasps dramatically ] Ohmygod, don't tell me I put on the wrong outfit again!

-and in case you're from a universe devoid of sarcasm, that'd be a no. The name's Batgirl.

While it's entirely possible the cats were chosen to fuck with us, I doubt it. More likely they were chosen to keep with the kids faerie tale shtick of the Queen.
