We get them year round, but it's light for so long during summer days that it never gets dark enough to see them--the cold can keep the sky clear so they're easier to see, too. But they can be literally anywhere, at any time! I don't remember ever seeing them so close to home before! :D

*facepalm* Should've remembered my basic geography and that you guys are near the Artic Circle so 20+ hours of sun during summer so no wonder you can't see them. I think there has been sightings of the Southern Lights at the tip of Tasmania here but that's like getting the lights in Maine. Kinda makes me wish I had gone further north when I went to Canada 5 years ago.
They're impressive pictures for night shots, they always look shitty except if you have a real awesome expensive camera.
It is really, really awesome. Even if it hurts your neck after a while looking up. And you can't feel your face bc you've been standing outside in 20F. (Better than -20F, i guess.) :D
