I wonder if the person who made that gif would consider making a CAAN version of it....hee
Where's the story now? After that episode, where the hell is my story? I need the story of Danny's rant when Steve asks him if he's feeling sensitive--you know, the flaily hands and floppy (still damp from surfing mmmm) hair and the "Look, when I said I wasn't Catherine I wasn't kidding around--this is serious for me, you know, and you not only haven't told your sister I'm living here, you didn't even bat an eye when she called us Surf Buddies--it sounds like a breakfast cereal for Christ's sake! And don't give me the bashful routine, either, Lieutenant Strip in a Heartbeat, you're not shy about anything. Sensitive? Should I be sensitive, just because you're acting like you're freakin' ashamed of us? Fine. Then I'm fuckin' sensitive. And also out of here!"
Who's writing this for me? ps Steve must respond with all the FEEEEEEELS! All of them!
Really all I want is a fic where Danny is adorably snarky about it, like, all the time, all the people, dudes on the street, "Hey, you there, yeah you, guess what, me and him? We're "KIND OF" surf buddies, awww yeah," "I would like a grande americano and my SURFBUDDY would like a green tea," "I don't know if you killed her or not, what do you think SURFBUDDY?" until Steve break and drags him to a corner and just, "OKAY, okay, you win, alright, I'm sorry, we're more than surf buddies, we're--we're boyfriends, okay, is that what you want me to say? We're boyfriends if you want us to be boyfriends, I can be boyfriends."
And Danny's just *eyebrows* and "Oh, if I want we can be boyfriends? I have to spend two days nagging you into it but you think I still want to be boyfriends? You're adorable, you really are," but the thing is, he doesn't mean it, he just means the adorable part, because Steve has all these repressed Navy feelings and sometimes he needs to be reminded that DADT got repealed, but Danny's willing to wait him out because

OH MY GOD "SURFBUDDIES" JEEEEEESUSariadne83March 21 2012, 11:12:37 UTC
I knooooooooow! Mini-tag because apparently I am THAT FAN:
Steve is with Catherine. Steve is the one who encouraged him to ask Gabby out, and to move things along. Steve… is weirdly private about his alone time with Danny. And Danny has no idea what to do with that, because it’s not like they’re doing anything wrong. It’s not like anything happened between them when Danny was single and Steve was… well, ambiguously single. Now that Steve’s flying halfway around the world to see Catherine, and Danny sometimes includes Gabby in his plans with Grace, things should be cut and dry.
So how, exactly, is it cute that he and Steve are “surf buddies”? Scratch that; how are they only kinda buddies? And why the hell does that sting so much? Why does Danny feel like a high school pariah who’s only “friends” with the quarterback outside of school, when no-one can find out? Ah crap. There it is: in high school, Danny had a raging hard-on for the quarterback. Which means, ipso facto, that his brain has freaking betrayed him and allowed his detached

I was in fact very sure of the fact that I imagined the first 3 minutes of that, until I realized I was still clutching the pillow, in my TEETH.
I have no idea how to interpret 'surf buddies' in the context of that whole *waves hands around* scene that is not a euphemism for 'surfing was not what you were thinking about last night when I MADE YOU SCREAM MY NAME.'
This show...seriously.
BTW, did Danny ever actually get a place? I think I missed that part.
Last we heard no, he didn't have a place. I assume he's not staying at the Hilton anymore but where he IS living is anyone's guess. I vote he's sleeping under Steve at Steve's.

All Danny seemed to want was for Steve to tell Mary they weren't 'just' surf buddies. In the words of Mary, "SO CUTE!!!".
