3. I've found that you're only thrown for a spin about your 'values' and 'beliefs' if you haven't asked yourself those questions beforehand. You have to know why you believe something, otherwise, every time someone says something to test that conviction, you'll be thrown into confusion. That isn't to say you shouldn't take the points of others into consideration - but considering someone else's view is not the same as letting what they think throw your beliefs into a tailspin.
