I have an Eee PC 701 - one of the oldschool ones with Linux. It's fine for my purposes, although if I had it all to do again, I'd get one with a full-sized keyboard. I just use mine for word processing and minimal web surfing, though.

I only have direct experience with my little Acer Aspire One. It's good for what I got it for, but especially because of it's small and relatively slow SSD, not something I'd recommend for coding.

On the other hand, it's also one of the first of its kind, and the newer ones are faster and have higher capacity drives available. Also, you can now get 10.1" screens, albeit still at relatively low resolution.

E has an HP mini-note that has a ginormous screen and a lovely keyboard (no, really, the keyboard on Lucien sucks). I think his was a refurb, but you might look at the mini-notes.

I have a Toshiba notebook and know they buy netbooks too; if I ever bought a netbook, I'd stick with Toshiba.
