Egads! I hope the furious beeping manages to clear everything up before we face any fried Queenies. I've never personally known anyone who ended up with electric water; those things never really go together in mind... Elements are weird.

Luckily I spent the weekend away and by the time I got back it was fixed :-)

Sounds like a bad ground. Bad stuff. Some places ground the electric to the plumbing. No-no.

Be careful, wear shoes inside and wait for them to fix it. The toilet should be okay, but use a dry cloth or something rubber to turn the taps.

Not sure about the shower. Maybe do that at the gym.

It was something with the electricity in the flat downstairs. Apparently the electrician had to shut down all their lights and now they're in the dark until it gets fixed. Landlord is now battling with the owner of that flat and it's likely to get really messy...

I do know that over here the ppes under the sink are connected (wired) to the ground. As far as I understand, this is to ground any leaking electricity from the pumps and power showers and stuff, rather than using the pipes to ground other facilities. As far as I am aware, the water system in Britain (and here) is based on gravitation rather than pressure, and so if you want a decent flow you need to add a pump. Those work on electricity. Obviously.

Whatever the reason, though, I hope that by now it is sorted.
