I'm sure you've heard by now that Heath Ledger died. I just found out this morning; I have been in a state of shock all day. My heart is broken

I read someone saying earlier that this could be the first good thing to ever come from the paparazzi - apparently there are plenty of pictures out there of him taking his daughter out for walks etc, being a loving father.
I've not really seen anything he's been in (half-seen 10 Things...) but I was aware of him as being on the cusp of a great career as a true actor, not just a movie star.
I think somehow his death is even more shocking due to the stark contrast to Brad Renfro's just a few days before.
I was also thinking that, in a way, maybe it's good that his daughter is so young, because maybe she'll be spared the pain of remembering this horrible time. Still, I can't imagine how you would begin to explain something like this to a child that young.
Aside from coming on the heels of Brad Renfro's death (with didn't affect me as much because I'd only ever seen him in Tom and Huck) the thing that makes it more shocking to me is that I just saw the full trailer for The Dark Knight on Sunday night, and then went back and looked at interviews with him and stuff about him, so he's been very much in my mind the last few days...it's surreal; I feel as though I had just seen him in person rather than having watched him in a Daily Show interview from 2001.
Having seen Batman Begins for the first time recently, on Monday I wrote a whole post about the new Batman film series, but didn't make it public because I wasn't satisfied with it and wanted to add on to it later. I don't know what I'm going to do with it now. I was so looking

He started young, as a teen back in Australia. The first I heard of him was in "Roar", which I'm pretty sure was his first American acting job, although I could be wrong. That was in 1997. So really, his Hollywood career was only 10 years long, but he produced a remarkable body of work in those 10 years.
