I didn't think the anvils were as bad this episode as they've been in the past at least. [1] I missed the icing swipe. :( [2]Shenanigans!!! [3] I thought it was probably just him fighting the mark's desire to make him kill Cole.
I'm just so 'meh' about Cole. He's like Hannah; nothing to like or hate in particular about his character but slightly annoying all the same. He just hasn't done anything really.
I wish they'd been able to find out a bit more about the monster. With so many in Kip, how did they know it wasn't spontaneously reproducing? If so, Cole could have ended up with more than one to get rid of. Also, the sweat lodge seems like a really slow way to get dehydrated. I was waiting for Dean to go looking for some ipecac.
I think it was really the small things, the nods to what fanficcers already know (Dean is intelligent, Sam can angst without being stupid about it, etc, etc), that really made this episode a good one. The story was good, but handled rather poorly. The nods to our military and what they suffer was a nice bonus, but Show has always been on top of that.
Really, I was just happy to see the brothers being BROTHERS again. And this win really eased Dean's mind, I'm sure, even as Sam's gave him a little dose of reality. Sucks...but there it is...
Honestly, considering I've seen people complain about the ep, because they didn't get the parallels until you explaine them, and the ep was apparantly too 'subtle' in that regard, I don't think the socalled anvils were all that bad this ep.
I do love me some SmartBoys. And they got to be capable AND smart in this one. No one to fall back on, it was just Winchesters vs MoTW and it was made of win
( ... )
Aak, you're right, it WAS Cole who came up with the dehydration. Sorry, got that mixed up. And great idea about Dean just looking away from the electrocution simply because he couldn't watch anymore. You're so smart! ::high-fives you::
